MainsBoost™ Solves Peak Water Demand Problems.
McCauley Road in Clapham, London is in a sought after area, with property prices to match, but there is little value in buying a 6 bedroom, 7 bathroom property if everyone has to wait for the "I’m Finished" call before the next occupant can use their own bathroom!
Acorn Heating Services were called in to solve the problem of a multi bathroom property with poor water flow delivering poor shower performance when either a toilet was flushes or a tap turned on.
The issue: With 4 standard and 2 drench heads, the water flow was insufficient to meet demand. This was especially evident at peak time when the 5 occupants (two adults and 3 children) wanted to shower at the same time.
Mains water pressure was at 4.5bar with a flow rate at 28lpm. This was not enough to meet the demand of 2 showers running at the same time let alone 6!
The solution had to be simple to install in the loft area with no noisey eletric pumps, easy to maintain and cost effective.
The solution: TWS conducted a survey of the property and after pressure and flow tests were carried out, proposed the installation of two MainsBoost™ 450litre Water Performance Systems in the loft area, which would stabilise the pressure and boost the flow rates to meet peak demand.
In tandem with the MainsBoost™ units, two AquaStor 250 indirect unvented hot water cylinders were installed, fed directly from the MainsBoost™ units to provide the high volumes of hot water required throughout the property.
